THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO DO THIS:

from one phone to another or from a phone to an
email address.
Go to MENU
Q: What can I download to my
phone using MMS technology?
A: As well as text content, already familiar through
text messages, multimedia messages (MMS) can also
include images, graphics, voice, and audio sequences.
AN MMS message is a multimedia presentation in a
single unit, not a text file with data attached.
Soon it will also be possible to send videos using
MMS. Although MMS includes a wide range of content
types.

Q: In what ways is my phone
compatible with MMS?
A: MMS standards recommend JPEG, GIF, text, AMR
voice, and other formats as admitted media types.
Non-admissible formats are handled under control.
MMS is email compatible, so messages can be sent
to email addresses. As with SMS, MMS is an open
industrial standard, so MMS messages can be sent
using existing networks and protocols. MMS is independent
of the carrier - it is not limited to GSM or WCDMA
networks.

Q: Does it take long to download
a polyphonic ring tone or colour image to my MMS
phone?
A:MMS transmission speed depends on the size of
the message and the carrier used. However, as the
receiver is not aware that a transmission is taking
place until the whole message has been sent, the
delay in imperceptible. This means MMS is just as
user-friendly as SMS.

Go to MENU
Q: What are the characteristics
of EMS?
A: Text formatting: text can be left or right justified,
or centred. Three font sizes are available: large,
normal, or small. Text can be highlighted in bold,
italics, underlined, or crossed-out. Images: three
image format types are supported: small (16 x 16
pixels), large (32 x 32) or variable, defined by
the user. The maximum recommended size is 96 x 64
pixels. The mobile can receive more than one image.
Images are in black and white; there is no grey
scale. Sounds: there are 10 different predetermined
sounds (percussion, applause, chords, and others).
Users can define their sound (no bigger than 128
bytes). Ring tones can also be included using the
iMelody standard. In iMelody, the tone is represented
by a text code, as is already the case with Ericsson
phones. The iMelody format can be found in the Ericsson
document on EMS in the section on Melodies/Encoding
Melody for sending over the air. Animations: animations
can be created by superimposing a number of images.
Two sizes may be used: small (8 x 8 pixels) and
large (16 x 16 pixels). The standard has a number
of predetermined animations (sad, flirty, happy,
sceptical, and disappointed). Users can also create
their own animations to send to other mobiles. Animations
cannot be downloaded.
